WARDOGS Is Live — Both Command Squad Servers Are Up

WARDOGS Early Access opened on September 10. Both our North America servers are running, here's how to find them, and here's what we're watching in week one.

WARDOGS entered Steam Early Access today, September 10, 2026. Both Command Squad servers are up.

Server Exact name in the server browser Settings Region
Command Squad #1 [★CMD] Command Squad #1 | TEAMWORK FIRST | ACTIVE ADMINS Standard North America
Command Squad #2 [★CMD] Command Squad #2 | HARDCORE | OPEN TO ALL | ACTIVE ADMINS Hardcore North America

Open WARDOGS, go to the community server browser, and search Command Squad — or CMD, which returns fewer unrelated results.

These are two different servers, not one and a spare. #1 runs standard settings and is the one we seed first. #2 runs Hardcore: no killcam, reduced HUD, first-person only in vehicles, destruction on. Hardcore cannot be played on official servers at all, so if the killcam is the thing you have been complaining about since the beta, #2 is the reason to come to a community server. Same rules and same admins on both.

If the browser comes up empty

It will, for some of you, and it is almost never your machine. In order:

  1. Select exactly one region — multiple regions selected at once returns an empty list rather than more results. Ours are North America.
  2. Turn on every “show” toggle — Official, Community, Empty, Full — and clear ping caps and player-count sliders.
  3. Search short. Three or four characters.

The full checklist, including connection errors, queues and build mismatches after a patch, is in WARDOGS server browser not showing servers. We wrote it today, and we will keep editing it all week as launch problems surface.

What is ready

  • Rules — published, short, and written for a three-team game rather than copied from our Squad ruleset.
  • Beginner guide — the Control Zone, three-team play, and the cash economy, in about eight minutes.
  • Joining guide — thirty seconds if it goes well, and what to do if it does not.
  • Admins on through launch week. Report problems in Discord; somebody is awake.

What we are still honest about

Three things we said before launch that are still true today, and we would rather repeat them than let them quietly disappear:

There is no one-click join button. Squad supports a Steam launch URL we can put behind a button on play.commandsquad.net. Whether WARDOGS supports anything equivalent is something we can only test on a real client — which we now have, so we are testing it. The moment one works, the button appears. Until then, instructions that work beat a button that might not.

Whitelists and reserved slots are unresolved. Whether communities can reserve capacity for supporters depends on server controls that may not exist yet. Membership does not sell a WARDOGS perk we cannot deliver, and it will not until we can.

Our servers are new; the people running them are not. We have run Squad servers for years to the same standard. That is the only credible claim anyone can make in week one, and it is the one we are making. If you want to check it rather than take it, we wrote down the criteria we think you should judge us on — they are not flattering to us by default.

Week one

Expect restarts. Expect patches. Expect the server browser to behave oddly at peak. We will announce downtime in Discord and keep the WARDOGS page current.

If you hit something broken — ours or the game’s — tell us. Launch week is when that reporting is worth the most, and a good deal of what is now written across our WARDOGS pages came from players telling us what they hit and what actually fixed it.

See you in the Control Zone.
