Game: Squad

Play Squad with Command Squad

Squad is a 100-player tactical shooter that only works when people talk to each other — which makes the server you play on matter more than almost any other game. Command Squad has run Squad servers since before we ran anything else, and Squad remains our flagship: the game our rules were written for, our admin team grew up in, and most of our regulars still play every week.

Our Squad servers

Two full-time licensed Squad servers. Server 1 runs vanilla Squad; Server 2 runs Galactic Contention, the Star Wars total-conversion mod — same rules, same admins, different war.

What our servers are actually like

  • Squads that talk. Squad leaders communicate with each other and with their squads. You will hear a plan, and you are expected to listen for it. A squad that ignores comms gets a word from an admin long before it gets a ban.
  • Genuinely new-player friendly. Say you're new on comms and you get help, not grief. This is a culture we enforce on ourselves, not a keyword in the server name.
  • Leadership that gets supported. Squad leading is the hardest job in the game. We back it with guides, mentoring, and squads that follow their SL.
  • Firm but fair administration. Published rules, consistent enforcement, judgment on intent and context. Whitelist and supporter perks never bend them.
  • No pay-to-win, ever. Financial support buys a reserved queue slot. It has never bought a vehicle, a kit, or a second chance after a rule break.
  • Servers that stay populated. A 98-slot server nobody seeds is a 0-slot server. Seeding is organised work here, and the people who do it get recognised for it.

First time on a Command Squad server?

  1. Read the Squad rules

Five minutes. Rules 5 through 9 are the ones players ask about most.

  2. Join a server (external link)

One click from the Play site, or search Command Squad in the in-game browser.

  3. Join the Discord (external link)

Optional — but seeding calls, events and squad-ups all start there.
