Hardcore is a WARDOGS server configuration that removes the killcam, cuts the HUD down, forces first-person view in vehicles and turns destruction on. It cannot be played on official servers — it exists only on community servers, which is the most important thing to know about it and the reason most people never find it. We run one.

The short answer
What does Hardcore mode change in WARDOGS?
Four things, and they compound:
WARDOGS standard settings compared with Hardcore
Standard
Hardcore
Killcam
Shows you where, how and why you died
None. You work it out yourself
HUD
Full
Reduced — less handed to you on screen
Vehicle view
First or third person
First person only
Destruction

Community servers only
Individually these read like small toggles. Together they change how a match is actually played, which is the part worth understanding before you decide whether it is for you.
The big one
Why removing the killcam matters so much
The killcam is the most argued-about feature in WARDOGS, and the argument is a real one rather than a preference. BULKHEAD put it in for a defensible reason: the maps are large, and being killed by something you never saw from a direction you cannot identify is genuinely miserable for a new player. The killcam tells you what happened so you can do something about it.
The cost is that it also tells the enemy team's position to everyone who dies:
Concealment stops being a strategy. A well-placed position reveals itself the moment it gets its first kill. On Hardcore, holding an angle quietly is viable for as long as you can hold it.
Information has to be earned and shared. With no automatic reveal, the only way your squad learns where the fire came from is if someone says so. Comms go from useful to load-bearing.
Deaths get slower and more deliberate. You stop sprinting back to the spot that just killed you, because you do not know where that spot is.
This is why we run Hardcore on one server and standard on the other. Both are legitimate. If you want the game to teach you, Server 1 is the better room; if you want the game to make you find out, Server 2 is.
An important consequence
Hardcore only exists on community servers
BULKHEAD has kept Hardcore off official servers entirely. That has a consequence a lot of players hit without understanding it: if you only ever play official servers, you cannot turn the killcam off. There is no client setting for it, no options-menu toggle, no launch flag. It is a property of the server you joined.
So the answer to "how do I play WARDOGS without a killcam" is not a setting — it is a server. You have to open the Community server browser and find one running Hardcore. Ours is [★CMD] Command Squad #2, and its server ID is on the WARDOGS page if you would rather paste it into Join by ID than search. Our community servers page explains how that whole layer works, and the server browser checklist covers the case where the browser shows you nothing at all.
Be honest with yourself
Is Hardcore right for you?
Try Hardcore if…
You already play tactical shooters and want less hand-holding.
You use comms, or want to be somewhere that forces you to.
The killcam is the thing you dislike most about the game.
You would rather lose slowly than win on information you were handed.
Start on standard if…
WARDOGS is your first game of this kind.
You are still learning the maps and the three-team flow.
You want to know what killed you while you are still learning why.
You are playing solo and not talking to anyone yet.
Neither list is a gate. Nobody checks your hours at the door of Server 2 — "open to all" is in the server name deliberately. It is just a genuinely harder room, and we would rather tell you that than have you bounce off it and conclude the community was unfriendly.

Or use Join by ID, bottom-left of the Community browserebb3b791-f1d5-4afb-a5e4-7045d7d05185
Search Command Squad in the WARDOGS community server browser and take Command Squad #2 — the one with HARDCORE in the name. Same rules as Server 1, same admins, same standard of enforcement. The only difference is the settings, and they are the ones listed at the top of this page.
Full joining steps are in the WARDOGS joining guide. If Hardcore turns out not to be for you, Server 1 runs standard settings and is thirty seconds away.
What is Hardcore mode in WARDOGS?
A server configuration that removes the killcam, reduces the HUD, forces first-person view in vehicles and enables destruction. It is not a separate queue you pick from a menu — it is a property of the server you join, and it is available on community servers only. Full detail on the Hardcore mode page.
How do I turn off the killcam in WARDOGS?
You cannot — not from the client. There is no options-menu toggle and no launch flag. The killcam is off only on community servers running Hardcore, so the way to play without it is to join one. Ours is Command Squad #2.
Can I play Hardcore on official WARDOGS servers?
No. BULKHEAD has kept Hardcore off official servers entirely, so it exists only on community servers. If you have only ever played official servers, you have never seen it.
Do I still earn cash and XP on a Hardcore community server?
Yes. Progression is earned on community servers and carries across official and community play alike, and BULKHEAD has bounded how far server admins can alter those values so the economy holds. Playing Hardcore does not cost you progress.
Is WARDOGS Hardcore mode too hard for new players?
Harder, not gated. Without a killcam you have to work out what killed you, which is a real step up if you are still learning the maps. We run standard settings on Command Squad #1 and Hardcore on #2 precisely so you can choose — and nobody checks your hours at the door of either.
Where can I find a WARDOGS Hardcore server?
In the game's **Community** server browser — filter to one region, enable the "show empty" toggle, and look for Hardcore in server names. Ours is "[★CMD] Command Squad #2 | HARDCORE | OPEN TO ALL | ACTIVE ADMINS", hosted in US Central. You can also skip the search entirely and paste its server ID into **Join by ID**: `ebb3b791-f1d5-4afb-a5e4-7045d7d05185`.
Not sure which server to start on?
Ask in Discord and someone will tell you honestly — including telling you to start on standard if that is the right answer for you.
