Privacy policy

This page describes what this website actually does — no boilerplate about practices we don't have. Last updated July 13, 2026.

What we collect

This site has no accounts, no forms, and no way to submit personal information. It uses two third-party analytics services:

  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate usage measurement: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which links (like Play or Discord) get used. GA4 sets cookies and processes IP addresses to derive coarse location; we use the data only to understand what content helps players.
  • Microsoft Clarity — anonymized interaction analytics (scrolling, clicks) that help us find usability problems. Clarity also sets cookies.

Both services receive data under their own privacy policies (Google (external link), Microsoft (external link)). Analytics load only on the production site — never on previews — and never block the page.

What we deliberately don't do

  • No advertising, ad trackers, or data sales — ever
  • No collection of Steam IDs, Discord identities, or in-game behavior through this site
  • No fingerprinting, no precise geolocation
  • The live server status widget shows only public server information (player counts, current map) — nothing about individual players

Embedded and external content

  • Videos: YouTube embeds use click-to-load facades in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). No request goes to YouTube until you press play; doing so is subject to Google's privacy policy.
  • Server status: your browser fetches public status data from our own Play site (play.commandsquad.net).
  • Outbound links (Discord, Patreon, BattleMetrics, joinsquad.com) are marked as external and governed by their destinations' policies.

Your options

  • Standard tracker-blocking extensions and browser settings work fully — the site functions identically with analytics blocked
  • Cookies from Google or Microsoft can be cleared or blocked per-site in your browser

Questions

Ask in the Discord (external link) — privacy questions go to the site maintainers via a support ticket. If our practices change, this page changes with them.
