How to Join a Command Squad WARDOGS Server

Find Command Squad in the WARDOGS community server browser, pick a server, and fix the most common launch-day connection problems.

Short answer: open WARDOGS, go to the community server browser, and search for Command Squad. We run two servers, both in North America, and they are named so you can spot them at a glance:

Server Exact name in the server browser Region
Command Squad #1 [★CMD] COMMAND SQUAD #1 | NEW PLAYERS WELCOME | ACTIVE ADMINS North America
Command Squad #2 [★CMD] COMMAND SQUAD #2 | NEW PLAYERS WELCOME | ACTIVE ADMINS North America

That is the whole process. The rest of this page is for when it does not go that smoothly — which, in the first week of an Early Access launch, it sometimes will not.

Why isn’t there a one-click join button? Because we have not verified one works. Squad supports a Steam launch URL we can put behind a button on play.commandsquad.net; whether WARDOGS supports anything equivalent is something we can only test on a real client once Early Access opens on September 10, 2026. The moment we have tested it, this guide and the Play site get a real button — and until then, you get instructions that actually work instead of a button that might not.

Step by step

  1. Launch WARDOGS and let it finish any first-run setup. On launch day, expect a patch.
  2. Open the server browser. Look for Community Servers, Server Browser, or Browse Servers from the main menu — the exact label depends on the build.
  3. Search for Command Squad. Searching CMD also works and returns fewer unrelated results. Both of our servers begin with the [★CMD] tag, so the two of them appear together.
  4. Check the region filter. Our servers are in North America. If the browser defaults to your own region and you are elsewhere, widen or clear the region filter or you will not see us at all.
  5. Pick a server and join. COMMAND SQUAD #1 is the one we seed first, so it is the better bet if you want a populated match. #2 exists so there is somewhere to go when #1 is full.

When the browser comes up empty

Work down this list in order — it is roughly ordered by how often each thing is actually the problem.

  • Clear your filters. This is the number one cause on every game with a server browser, every time. Player-count filters, ping limits, mode filters, and “hide full servers” all hide us. Reset filters, then search again.
  • Check the region. See step 4. A North American server will not appear under a European region filter.
  • Search a shorter string. CMD or Command rather than the full server name. Some browsers match from the start of the name only, and our names begin with a [★CMD] tag.
  • Full server? A server at 100/100 may be hidden or unjoinable depending on how the build handles queues. Try the other one, or wait for a round to end.
  • Refresh, then restart. Server lists cache. Hit refresh; if that fails, restart the game client entirely.
  • Are we actually up? On day one, servers restart for patches. Check the WARDOGS page for current status, or ask in Discord — someone will know within a minute or two.

If none of that works, come to Discord and tell us what you tried. Launch week is exactly when we want to hear about connection problems: your report is how this page gets better.

Before your first match

  • Read the WARDOGS server rules. They are deliberately short — five minutes, and Rules 3, 4 and 5 are the ones that matter most in a three-team game.
  • New to WARDOGS? So is everyone. The beginner guide covers what we know so far.
  • Set up your microphone. Not mandatory, but these are teamplay servers, and a Control Zone fight goes very differently when your team is talking.

Joining our community, not just our server

You do not need to join anything to play — the servers are open. But launch nights, seeding calls, and the “who’s on right now” conversation all happen in our Discord. If you want to be in the first full match rather than waiting for one to form, that is where to be.

Playing Squad as well? Our Squad servers run on the same standards, and Command Squad membership is one membership across every game we support.
