How to Join a Command Squad WARDOGS Server

Join a Command Squad WARDOGS server by ID or by searching the Community browser, and fix the most common connection problems.

Short answer: open the Community server browser and either search CMD, or paste one of our server IDs into Join by ID. Both servers are live, both are hosted in US Central, and they are named so you can spot them at a glance:

That is the whole process. The rest of this page is for when it does not go that smoothly.

Why isn’t there a one-click join button? Because we have not verified one works. Squad supports a Steam launch URL we can put behind a button on play.commandsquad.net; whether WARDOGS supports anything equivalent is something we would have to test on a real client, and we have not. The moment we have, this guide and the Play site get a real button — and until then, you get instructions that actually work instead of a button that might not. Join by ID is the closest thing the game itself offers, and it is two clicks and a paste.

The fastest route: Join by ID

Patch 0.11 gave every community server a persistent, unique ID. Before that patch, IDs were regenerated on restart and map change, so publishing one would have been worse than useless. Now it is the most reliable way in:

  1. Launch WARDOGS and press DEPLOY.
  2. Choose the Community browser. Community and Official servers are separate lists since 0.11 — make sure you are looking at Community.
  3. Click Join by ID, bottom-left of the browser.
  4. Paste the ID for the server you want, from the table above, and confirm.

This skips filters, region settings and search text entirely, which is why it works when the browser search does not.

The other route: search the browser

  1. Launch WARDOGS and open the Community server browser.
  2. Search CMD. Both of our servers begin with the [★CMD] tag, so the two of them appear together. Searching the full Command Squad works too, but short searches survive more typos.
  3. Set the region filter to North America — and to nothing else. Both of our servers are in US Central. Selecting several regions at once tends to return an empty list rather than more results, so change the region rather than adding to it.
  4. Pick a server and join. These are two different experiences, not one server with a spare. #1 runs standard settings and is the one we seed first — start there if you are new to WARDOGS or to us. #2 runs Hardcore: no killcam, reduced HUD, first-person only in vehicles. Same rules and same admins on both.

When the browser comes up empty

The three fixes that solve it for almost everyone, in order:

  1. Use Join by ID instead. It ignores every filter on this list, so it is the fastest way to prove the servers are up and the problem is your search.
  2. Select exactly one region. Multiple regions selected at once is the single most common cause of an empty list. Ours are North America, US Central.
  3. Check you are on the Community list. Since patch 0.11 the Community and Official browsers are separate — our servers are never on the Official one.
  4. Turn on every “show” filter — Empty, Full — and clear ping caps, player-count sliders and leftover search text.
  5. Search short. CMD, not the full server name.

Before your first match

  • Read the WARDOGS server rules. They are deliberately short — five minutes, and Rules 3, 4 and 5 are the ones that matter most in a three-team game.
  • New to WARDOGS? So is everyone. The beginner guide covers what we know so far.
  • Set up your microphone. Not mandatory, but these are teamplay servers, and a Control Zone fight goes very differently when your team is talking.

Joining our community, not just our server

You do not need to join anything to play — the servers are open. But launch nights, seeding calls, and the “who’s on right now” conversation all happen in our Discord. If you want to be in the first full match rather than waiting for one to form, that is where to be.
